Pray for the Suffering
January 13, 2010
As we take this week and focus on developing a dynamic prayer life I thought I would take this opportunity to remind you to pray for the persecuted church. Often times we don’t pray for them, not because we don’t want to, but because we are unaware of the horrible things that are happening to believers around the world.
God is doing exactly what He said He would do, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades (Hell) will not overcome it.” (Matthew 16:18) This does not mean that Satan will go down without a fight. That is why we must have a sense of urgency as we engage in intercessory prayer for our brothers and our sisters who are being persecuted for being a part of God’s plan of building His church. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:26) Please make it a point to pray weekly for them!
“Suffering saints are the living seed.” (Charles Spurgeon) Let us be a part of watering the “living seeds” with our prayers.
